Porsche Vision Gran Turismo is a virtual racing car developed in partnership with Polyphony Digital Inc., a Sony Interactive Entertainment company.
Porsche’s first concept vehicle, Porsche Vision Gran Turismo, was built exclusively for use in a computer game. It will be accessible exclusively in Gran Turismo 7, which is scheduled for release on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on 4 March 2022.
“A vehicle designed purely for the virtual world opens up exciting possibilities for us that are otherwise heavily regimented in a regular design process for a series production car,” says Michael Mauer, Vice President Style Porsche.
The Vision Gran Turismo is designed in the signature Porsche style. The virtual concept’s height-to-width ratio emphasizes the car’s sportiness, which is reinforced by the low-slung bonnet and prominent wings. Taycan’s design language is evident in the concept’s headlamps and integrated air intakes. The slim rear light strip is inspired by the 911 and Taycan vehicles.
A low seating position enhances the driving experience on the interior. With the use of carbon and titanium components, the interior is more realistic. Another intriguing interior feature is the programmable hologram that hovers over the driving wheel.
The aim was to reduce weight while increasing performance,” says Markus Auerbach, Head of Interior Design at Porsche. “In addition, sustainable aspects also play a role in forward-looking projects. For example, we only used entirely vegan materials in the concept car.”
