The new BMW XM concept vehicle was unveiled at Art Basel’s Miami Beach event in 2021. The BMW Concept XM is the most powerful BMW ever made. The electric concept combines the high performance features of the M brand with the silent driving experience of electrification.

The BMW Concept XM’s M Hybrid drive system features a V8 engine paired with a powerful electric motor for a combined output of 750 horsepower and 1,000 pound-feet of torque. An all-electric range of up to 80 kilometers is possible thanks to the drivetrain.

BMW’s concept XM features a revolutionary front end design that will be carried over to BMW’s next luxury-class cars. The outside appearance is aggressive, in keeping with the performance features of the M brand. The headlamps have been divided into two distinct modules, a novel design innovation that results in an eye-catching appearance. The trademark of the daytime driving light in the precisely designed, slender upper module is particularly striking. The horizontal kidney grille is positioned aggressively between the headlights and tapers towards the outer borders, creating an almost octagonal shape that emphasizes the front end’s dynamic nature. The new XM emblem in the kidney grille and the huge air intakes allude to the engine’s power, which works in tandem with the electric motor to form the M Hybrid system.

The rear end’s design also emphasizes the car’s imposing stature, and the BMW Concept XM cuts a low, sporty figure from this viewpoint. The rear window is nearly perfectly integrated into the rear end. Below each of the two cant rails, the BMW insignia has been laser-etched into the window. Flared wheel arches emphasize the car’s commanding presence on the road. Slim L-shaped tail lights that span nearly the whole width of the rear contribute to the impression. The dual-branch, twin-tailpipe exhaust system used in this application decreases backpressure for the V8 engine while also providing an emotionally rich M-typical audio to accompany the engine’s overwhelming power output.

BMW Concept XM includes a driver-focused cockpit designed in the M style. Within the cockpit, a carbon fiber ornamental panel with interwoven copper thread gives a sporty and distinctive backdrop for displays, air vents, and control/operating elements. Above it, the new BMW Curved Display panel grouping strikes an elegant mix between conventional driver attention and contemporary digitality.
