Honda’s long running model debuted in 1973 has reached its 11th generation. Honda today unveiled technologically advanced Civic Sedan in the model’s nearly 50-year history. All new Civic is more comfortable and safer with more features and an updated interior.
2022 Civic is powered by carry over engines of the outgoing model. A naturally aspirated 2.0-liter or a turbocharged 1.5-liter paired with continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). The 2.0-liter 4-cylinder powering the LX and Sport trims produces 158 horsepower @ 6,500 rpm and 138 lb.-ft. of torque @ 4,200 rpm. The 1.5-liter turbo 4-cylinder in EX and Touring trims belts out 180 horsepower @ 6,000 rpm and 177 lb.-ft. of torque at 1,700 to 4,500 rpm. 2.0L Sport and 1.5L Touring trims are equipped with user-selectable Sport mode in addition to the standard Normal and Eco modes.
2022 Civic is equipped with a tuned chassis offering more rigid structure and the Wheel base has an additional 1.4-inches increase resulting in a smoother ride and sporty handling. Extensive usage of lightweight materials and structural adhesives helped in minimizing the overall weight and reduces the road and wind noise in the cabin.
The new Civic’s exterior is classy and more upscale with low sporty stance. Door-mounted side mirrors improve visibility while maintaining the clean lines of the exterior. A sharp shoulder character line carves a gentle arc from the front fender to the taillights, giving continuity to the design. The lower character line carries up from the bottom of the front door, rising across the rear doors, and through the rear fenders for an enhanced sense of motion. Full LED lighting is another new feature of the new Civic, which includes head lights, DRL’s, fog lights and even parking lights.
2022 Civic boasts a well equipped interior ample head, leg, shoulder and hip room for all passengers mainly due to the low, flat beltline and uncluttered design. High-quality materials are used throughout the interior. LX, Sport and EX grades are equipped with a 7-inch color LCD instrument display whereas Touring models gets 10.2 inch high-definition full-color LCD panel display. Touchscreen systems come standard with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, while Touring comes standard with Qi-compatible wireless charging. Touring trims are equipped with Bose premium sound system with 12 speakers.
On safety, the 2022 Civic is equipped with advanced front airbag systems designed to address severe brain trauma associated with angled frontal collisions. All together new Civic gets 10 aid bags including rear seat side airbags which is a first for Civic. The standard Honda Sensing suite offers Traffic Jam Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist System and Low-Speed Braking Control for Touring trim.
The all new 2022 Civic will be available in eight exterior colors, three of which are new: Meteorite Gray Metallic, Sonic Gray Pearl and all-new Civic-exclusive Morning Mist Blue Metallic.
