Yamaha has launched all new R7, the latest addition to its SuperSport R series headed by the legendary R1M.

New Yamaha R7

Yamaha R7 was originally debuted in 1999 as a homologation special for World Superbike and Suzuka 8 Hours. Only 500 of these limited edition race machines were made. 2021 R7 is basically a tribute to the original limited edition YZF-R7 superbike.

All new 2022 YZF R7 is powered by a 689cc inline 2-cylinder DOHC 4-valve liquid-cooled CP2 engine delivering 73.4PS @ 8,750 rpm and  67 Nm of torque @ 6,500 rpm. New CP2 engines features a 270 degree crankshaft with an uneven firing sequence delivers strong and linear torque across a wide rpm range, making it a lively performer in all gears and at all engine speeds. CP2 engine is updated with new ECU, optimised air intake ducts, new exhaust design and fuel injection settings.

The EU5 compliant power plant delivers smooth and refined power delivery even at low revs. Assist & Slipper (A&S) clutch is another new feature providing smoother gear shifting and prevents engine over-rev and rear wheel hop during hard braking, resulting in more predictable and controllable handling when approaching corners.

All new R7 is equipped with a light weight tubular frame with a rigid mounted aluminium centre brace contributes towards exceptional handling characteristics. New R7’s suspension package consists of KYB 41 mm fully adjustable inverted front forks and redesigned link-type Monocross rear suspension system with damping characteristics.

New R7’s riding position is sporty yet adaptable for various riding positions. Seat has been designed narrow around the rider’s inner thighs and wider at the rear contributing to comfort and ergonomics. The solo-style seat is equipped with a passenger pad on top of the tail.

New R7 features front radial-mount 4-piston braking system, full LCD instrument panel showing vital information like gear/shift indications, lightweight 10-spoke cast alloy wheels, MotoGP styled M-shaped air intake and LED headlight.

The dynamic new R7 is offered in two color options, Icon Blue and Yamaha Black. Deliveries will commence from October 2021.
