Honda says the all new Civic hatchback is aimed at young and active buyers. Honda fan boys can now celebrate the evolution of their favorite hot hatch from its bare bone origins to a fun to drive comfort cruiser. 

2022 Honda Civic Hatchback

Honda today revealed the 2022 Civic Hatchback featuring a striking euro styling and an available 6-speed short throw manual transmission. 

The 11th generation Civic Hatchback is powered by a 2.0 liter 4 cylinder engine producing 158 horsepower at 6,500 rpm and 138 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,200 rpm. The 2.0 liter engine powers the LX and Sport variants is coupled with a revised CVT improves fuel consumption by employing a electric hydraulic pump that reduces the load on the mechanical pump, and a ball-bearing secondary shaft to reduce friction. Another feature of updated CVT is early downshifts during braking and Step-Shift programming simulating physical gear changes under hard acceleration.

EX-L and Sport Touring trims are powered by a turbocharged 1.5-liter 4-cylinder producing 180 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 177 lb.-ft. of torque at 1,700 to 4,500 rpm mated with CVT transmission. A new 6-speed manual transmission is available in Sport and Sport Touring grades. All variants are equipped with user-selectable Normal and Eco drive modes. 2.0L Sport and 1.5L Sport Touring trims features Sport mode using a toggle switch on the center console. 

2022 Civic Hatchback is based on Civic Sedan and sports a coupe like profile with rear overhang and overall length are 4.9-inches shorter than the Civic Sedan. The sportier styling is further enhanced by the low hood, front fenders and horizontal beltline. It’s wider rear track is accentuated by the new taillight design and high mounted stop light spanning the entire width of the hatch.

Simple and uncluttered interior is driver focused and offers passenger comfort. Driver visibility is exceptional with pull back A-pillars, low hood, flat dashboard, low cowl and repositioned outside mirrors. Rear legroom and headroom has been increased compared to the outgoing model. The standard 60/40 split seatback can be quickly folded for expanded capacity and the side-pull cargo cover makes it easy to quickly open or conceal the rear cargo area. LX and Sport variants feature cloth seat trim whereas EX-L and Sport Touring grades are offered with perforated leather seats with added shoulder support. 

Civic LX, Sport and EX-L grades are equipped with a new 7-inch color LCD instrument display  equipped with an all-digital speedometer and tachometer on the left side, and a manual speedometer dial on the right. All digital 10.2” color LCD instrument display is standard on the Hatchback Sport Touring model. LX, Sport and EX-L grades come standard with a new 7” color touchscreen equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Civic Hatchback Sport Touring features an all-new 9” color touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Qi-compatible wireless charging.

2022 Civic Hatchback Sport Touring variant is equipped with Bose premium sound system with 12 speakers. 

Safety systems are on par with Honda standards. All new Civic Hatchback is equipped with front airbags specifically designed to reduce brain injury during frontal collisions. Civic’s Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure enhances occupant protection. All Civic Hatchback variants are equipped with new Honda Sensing suite of active safety and driver-assistive technologies using a single camera system, Honda Sensing equipped Traffic Jam Assist, new Low-Speed Braking Control (Sport Touring), front and rear false-start prevention with the addition of eight sonar sensors.

All new Civic Hatchback is available in eight colors including newly added Boost Blue Pearl and Smokey Mauve Pearl.
