With the release of the Ninja ZX 4RR, the 400cc supersport class is now fiercely fought.
Ninja ZX 4RR KRT Edition is a track-focused motorcycle that combines real-world road riding pleasure with track riding capability.
A brand-new 399cc liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, in-line four-cylinder engine generates nearly 80 horsepower for the 2023 Ninja ZX 4RR KRT Edition. The Electronic Control Unit (ECU) is able to regulate the amount of fuel (through the injectors) and air (via the throttle valves) that is sent to the engine, resulting in a more natural and fluid response.
An effortless six-speed transmission with a dual-direction Kawasaki Quick Shifter is coupled to the in-line four (KQS). Additionally fitted with an Assist & Slipper Clutch, which performs two tasks that a regular clutch is unable to perform by utilizing two different cam types (an assist cam and a slipper cam). The clutch hub and operating plate are pulled together by the assist cam when the engine is running at normal rpm, compressing the clutch plates. This enables a lighter clutch lever pull when engaging the clutch and lowers the overall clutch spring load. When the engine brakes too hard, the slipper cam engages, forcing the working plate and clutch hub apart. This releases pressure from the clutch plates, which helps to lessen back torque and lessen the risk of the rear wheel hopping or sliding.
The 2023 Ninja ZX 4RR KRT Edition has a steel trellis frame. The suspension system is made up of a 37mm inverted front fork with Showa’s SFF-BP (Separate Function Fork – Big Piston) technology. A horizontal back-link rear suspension mounted to a Showa BFRC (Balance Free Rear Cushion) Lite shock can be seen at the rear of the Ninja ZX-4RR KRT Edition. A pair of 290mm semi-floating front discs handle the stopping duties up front and are gripped by 4-piston radial-mount monobloc calipers, while a 220mm disc is slowed by a single-piston caliper at the back.
