Honda CX500 was launched in 1978. Designed by legendary Shoichiro Irimajiri who designed Honda CBX and Honda GL 1000. The CX500 was powered by a 497cc V-twin generating 48 hp @ 9,000 rpm.

The liquid cooled V-twin was positioned longitudinally and coupled with a 5-speed transmission. The shaft driven V-twin’s gearbox was situated under the engine in order to keep the engine and transmission compact as practical. Front forks are air assisted telescopic and at the back pro link monoshock handles the suspension chores.

Honda CX500 Custom, CX500 Deluxe, GL500, GL650, CX500EC Sports, CC500 Turbo, CX650C, CX650ED and CX650T are the numerous varieties of CX500 built by Honda from 1978 to 1983.

Dotto Creations of Italy customized a 1979 model year CX500 called as The Biancaneve. The cafe racer is equipped with a fairing from the handle bar till the tail end, customized front and rear shocks and clip on grips.
