Suzuki launched Katana (samurai sword in Japanese) in 1981 and sold till 2006 and relaunched in 2019 as a 2020 model. Katana was designed by Target Design of Germany headed by Hans Muth, ex-design chief of BMW. 

Suzuki Katana 1100 was unveiled in 1981 and flagged by Suzuki as the fastest production motorcycle in the world which could go past 200Kmph. In 2019 Suzuki relaunched Katana as a 2020 model based on Suzuki GSX-S1000F and featuring the K5 engine from Suzuki GSX-R1000 from 2005. The four cylinder liquid cooled engine is good for 150hp and mated with a 6-speed transmission with back torque limiting clutch. 

In 2020 Suzuki has partnered with motorcycle apparel maker Icon Motorsports to produce a one off custom Suzuki Katana. Custom Katana features twin endurance racing fuel ports, premium Nitron suspension, solid EBC rotors, Avon competition tires, and custom exhaust fitted from various Leo Vince components. 

Suzuki Katana custom aka New Jack by Icon MOTORSPORTS is powered by the same 1200cc power plant from Suzuki GSX-R1000 producing 150hp. Custom Katana inspired by a famous Japanese anime series called Gundam sports 17” forged wheels and 11.3kgs lighter than standard Suzuki Katana.
