The long anticipated return of eight-time world champion to the track happened today at Portimao. Marquez finished third fastest behind Alex Rins. Márquez was on the sidelines for nine months due to a shoulder injury during Spanish GP on July 19, 2020 has been certified by his medical team to return to competition. 

Márquez has already tested the 4.6-kilometer-long Portimao circuit on a Honda RC213V-S. HRC says “the objective for the weekend is for Marquez to return to competition and complete a successful Grand Prix without any unnecessary risks in order to have a fruitful 2021 campaign”.
