The 2.0-liter turbocharged K20C1 engine, which has won numerous awards, powers the new Type R. It produces 310 lb.-ft. of torque between 2,600 and 4,000 rpm and 315 horsepower at 6,500 rpm. The new turbo 4-pot produces 9 more horsepower and 15 more lb-ft of torque than the outgoing model.

The Civic Type R, which is based on the 11th generation Civic Hatchback, has a six-speed manual transmission with a helical-type limited-slip differential that has been fine-tuned for perfectly paired rev-matching when shifting down through the gears, improving stability on corners. To improve cooling, the new Type R has a larger front grille, a larger radiator, and a new large-diameter fan. As the engine speed increases, the active exhaust valve opens, changing the exhaust note to a high-pitched roar.

New Type R boasts a more rigid frame with an extended wheelbase for smoother ride and stability at higher speeds. The exterior is aerodynamically efficient generating more down force ensuring stability at high speed.

The iconic red seats, carpet, and trim of the Type R, a redesigned aluminum shift knob, and a serialized Type R plate on the dash are all included in the performance-focused cockpit. The exclusive new digital instrument cluster for Type R has a wide range of displays and clear, easy-to-read graphics. The design includes a sizable tachometer, a gear position display, as well as a multi-information display.

Civic Type R will be offered in five eye-catching hues: Rallye Red, Boost Blue, Crystal Black Pearl, Sonic Grey Pearl, and historic Championship White—a Type R-exclusive finish cherished by Honda enthusiasts.
